How many sessions will I need?

Most clients need three sessions, spaced around two weeks apart. This allows pigment to settle naturally and ensures realistic density. We include a free perfecting session within 12 months.

How long does each session take?

Depending on the size of the area, sessions typically last 2–4 hours. Scar camouflage or small areas may be quicker.

Does SMP hurt?

Discomfort is usually minimal. Most clients describe it as a light scratching or tingling sensation, far less intense than a regular tattoo.

Do I need to shave my head?

Not always. For density SMP (where hair is kept longer), shaving may not be necessary.

For full SMP or the shaved/buzz look, hair is usually trimmed short to achieve the most natural result.

Will it look natural?

Yes — when performed correctly, SMP blends seamlessly with your natural hair. Pigment impressions are layered to match your natural density, hairline pattern and skin tone.

How long does SMP last?

SMP lasts 2–5 years before gradually softening. Many clients return for a refresh between 3–5 years, depending on lifestyle, skin type and sun exposure.

Will the pigment change colour?

No — SMP uses cosmetic carbon-based pigment designed to fade gradually and naturally. It should not turn blue, green or ashy when applied correctly.

Is SMP safe?

Yes. We use medical-grade pigment, sterile single-use needles and professional hygiene protocols. A consultation and patch test are carried out before treatment.

Can SMP cover scars?

Absolutely. SMP is highly effective for transplant scars (FUE/FUT), surgical scars and injury scars. Pigment is blended into the scar tissue to match the surrounding scalp.

What is the healing process like?

Healing is quick with minimal downtime.
You may experience slight redness for 24–48 hours. You’ll need to avoid sweating, heavy moisture and direct sun exposure for the first few days.

Can I still use hair fibres, medications or hair systems?

Yes — SMP is compatible with most hair-loss products and treatments. Many clients combine SMP with treatments like PRP, finasteride or fibres for added fullness.

Can I change my hairline later?

Yes. Adjustments can be made during refresh sessions, whether you want a softer hairline, more definition or a younger style.

What if I have oily or dry skin?

Skin type can affect how pigment settles, which will be assessed during consultation. We tailor density, spacing and aftercare to suit your skin.
